Solar Powered

I’ve come to the realization that I'm solar powered.  If it is a bright and sunny day, I am up and ready to go.  I am productive and get everything done.  I literally jump up and down with glee.  I even want to go for a run!  Doesn’t matter what I am doing, as long as it is sunny and I get to spend some time in the glorious rays.  Give me a book and some sunshine and I am content for the whole day.  Sunshine nourishes my soul like nothin’ else.

If it is cloudy or rainy, forget it.  I can’t get myself out of bed.

I know we need rain or there won’t be rainbows, and April showers bring May flowers, but I still just want to pull the covers over my head.

Anyone else out there the same? Please help me.  What do you do to motivate yourself on cloudy days?

  2. Hi Kathianne,
I have had similar issues in the past, with feeling more "down" on less sunny days, and aside from remembering to be grateful at all times and focusing on the positive, I added a Vitamin D supplement to my day. It seems to really help!

Also, I just wanted to tell you that I've been browsing around your blog and I love it! Have a great day.
    :)

  3. Sunshine makes me want to be outdoors too. Usually getting my dirt therapy - digging around in my flower beds. But, I sometimes look forward to a good rainy day so I can declare it "Jammie Day!" It's a good excuse for me to just veg out in my pajamas and sleep, read, watch movies, craft, and sit on the sun porch listening to the rain hit the roof and windows. I even like to watch lightening storms. Nobody ever said I was normal!

In our area of PA, we had 6 weeks of rain with only 3 of days of that time not having sprinkles, just clouds. As people complained I kept saying, "You've got a free car wash going here, you don't need to wear sunglasses, you won't get sunburn, the bugs aren't buzzing around the head and biting, the practically cemented bird doo is getting chiseled away from its landing spots, and it's not hot and muggy out. Rainy days motivate me to get the inside work done without feeling guilty that I should be outside doing something. Now hours of daylight, that's a whole other story. During the winter when it's dark at 4:30pm I feel as thought the day is over and the PJs should be on and all should be quiet and lounge-like - not productive. In the summer when it's light out until 9pm, the PJs go on late. So think of those rainy days as Mother Nature's free pass from guilt and she wants us to do something indoors, quietly or loudly.
